2001 December Cincinnati Ohio, 15 degrees and first look at the race car. Appeared to be all there from all the phone calls. Owner did not know what he really had or how great it was. He drove it once at a track day at Mid Ohio and scared himself too much so it just sat for years in a garage behind his house.
Thought is was a 6 out of 10 but turned out to be a 11 out of 10 and then some. Had not raced under Rothmans colors due to Federal ban on Tabaco advertising at all American Race tracks which is why all Rothmans Porsche race cars came into Canada and Rothmans logos removed after race series to race in America.
Will take me 5 years and a lot of work to get approval to return to Rothmans logo for Vintage and Historic racing in America. Still on thin ice but good thing is 90% of American race fans do not know what a "Rothmans" is as cigarettes' never sold in America.

Getting a better look at race car. Asked owner how you get in and out of full heavy roll cage in car and he said "I do not really know, just sort of fall in and climb out somehow" He had only been it a few times. White stuff is snow and ice if you are not sure what it is.
Owner did not know much about the history of the car except he bought it from a race shop in West Virginia after his divorce where it had been setting for years and so wanted to try something new. He was a lawyer and not a car "guy".
Paperwork and research showed it had raced PCA club racing series for two years with a third place finish at Daytona once. Also wrecked right rear in turn 4 at Daytona. Good paperwork trail with race log book in paper work from race shop that sole the car.

Friend Dennis from Kentucky came with me to bring it back to his house after picking me up from airport and a good lunch.

Not as cold with no snow but still cold as race car and trailer still looked good.

Early next day as snow storm on way as picked up U-Haul loaded trailer and now on road to Florida. 15 hours to go and hope to beat Winter storm heading South behind me.

Yes, Fall In and Climb Out
Back in Florida so better look at race car

Race car came with a race seat for instructor or passenger.

Looking through rear window up. Again heavy full roll cage.

Outside of pits at Sebring International Racetrack to unload for a weekend of testing car on a race track for first time.
Had "Rocket" a great well known racer with Porsche 944's to instruct me and help me understand the car. He was great as was the car.

Back wall is pits and then on to front straight and into turn one.

All the folks at Reeves Porsche Motorsports Racing out of Tampa were GREAT with many good friends made and some great times after the track went cold for many years.

After testing and a great examine of the race car by Lou from Aero Dynamics (Lou is a Porsche Engineer with unbelievable credentials, and knowledge of all things Porsches and even more 944's and race cars both building and maintaining and making then go fast and handle well. Lou then asked if I wanted a partner in the race team. With such a great offer of course the answer was yes with him and his Porsche race shop (about 10 minutes from the track at Daytona).
So Two Guys and a Porsche Race team was born as we were just two guys with a Porsche race car.
So now it was to Daytona for more testing and the start of our race team.

The Rolex clock is the entry chute to pit lane and to the Race Track.
To think of all the many great racers that made this entrance. Never gets old and I am always humbled by it all and fortunate to be driving under it and onto the track.

An early race at Daytona for TGP Racing. All went well as I really learned all the many tracks and the great car that Lou always gave me.

Just passed another Red Porsche 944 race car on the outside in turn 7 at Sebring.

At the "kink" or turn 4 at Daytona flat out heading for hard breaking and a 180 degree turn 5.
Front grandstand behind me.

Fun in the early days of racing. Still smiling after all these years.

Leading a small pack on the high banks of Daytona in the early years.

Notice in the background is where we get back on the high backs (Rolex turn 6 or Nascar turn 2)

Here is the back story. Andrea agreed to me having my own race team but with several conditions.
1. She gets a dog with no question about dog or price.
2. Fence in our big back yard with very nice fence and 8 foot tall fencing. No Fence to go crap.
3. Health and medical insurance for dog. Yea, for Benfield Animal Hospital Hospital
So we have Dexter for her and a race team for me for when I am gone 2 or 3 weeks a month.
So Dexter is the Co-Owner and is well know across so many race tracks around America. Articles have been written about Dexter and the race car but often do not even mention me.
Dexter is famous and a hit everywhere we go and always at our charity events.
Pictures of people with him or just the side of the race car is just GREAT.
Remember he has his own page in Dexter and fans section. Please see as it will bring smiles to your faces as it has dogs he met at many races tracks over the years.

When people pass and the see Dexter on the Race Car they all smile and the when they see him in the race care they point and go wild (Rock Star"

Early days we had a Ford Ranger as the tow vehicle.

Moved up to a new Ford 150 as long trips were much easier for all involved.

Still had the Ford Ranger in this shot at Sebring

Race team engineers are great for giving advice in pit lane as well as the pit crew.
